A collaborative exhibition between BGP and the Armidale Folk Museum.
With members based in and around Armidale NSW, the Black Gully Printmakers is a group of artists and print enthusiasts that come together in the Museum of Printing print studio, situated beneath the new England Regional Art Museum (NERAM).
Dry point etching is a wonderfully direct medium in which marks are made straight onto the plate, no acid required! We will use metal and perspex plates and experiment with mark-making and the addition of colour. No experience necessary.
Aluminium etching with copper sulphate is all about creating beautiful tonal contrasts as well as line.
No experience is necessary for this workshop as you will be guided all the way. Printmakers who have worked with acids and aquatints will especially appreciate the simplicity of this method.
Floor talks and poetry readings held by the printmakers at 2pm Saturday 14th.
Black Gully Printmakers have been inspired by Judith Wright and this exhibition will feature a variety of responses to her writing and the landscapes and causes she held so dear. Wright was a passionate environmentalist, poet, Aboriginal Land Rights activist and novelist, and the works being exhibited will bring the artists' reactions to her words to a contemporary audience.Join us for the opening of this exhibition at 6pm Friday 13th December at Sauer Memorial Hall in Wollomombi, NSW and celebrate with the Black Gully Printmakers community.

Collagraphs are printing plates where materials have been applied to the substrate or where the substrate has been incised or cut away. These textures hold the ink for intaglio and limited relief printing. Collagraphs are an economical and non-etchant technique that can produce exciting and ethereal results. Workshop is suited for Beginners/Experienced. Workshop with Rhonda Ellem.

Black Gully Printmakers respond to the writing and country of one of New England’s most famous locals – poet, environmentalist, and Aboriginal land rights activist Judith Wright. BGP have created diverse works inspired by Wright that illustrate, reflect upon, and explore her words and the landscape that influenced her so profoundly.
Armidale Regional Council’s Arts and Cultural Festival working group is a festival to showcase local art, culture and heritage. If you are involved in the local creative industries – visual arts, crafts, performance, music, theatre, writing, heritage.
